QT Career Day is a dynamic 3-part event designed to empower Queer and Trans (QT) students as they explore pathways to meaningful internships and employment. Through a series of intentional, identity-centered workshops and panels, this day aims to foster community, build confidence, and connect QT students with affirming professional opportunities. About this event: In this virtual, interactive workshop, students will explore how they can cultivate resilience through the lens of career development. Together, we will define resilience in ways that uplift authenticity, community care, and lived experiences. Through guided reflection and discussion, participants will identify their unique strengths and build a personalized Resilience Toolkit to support their professional growth.  A Zoom link will be emailed to all registered attendees prior to the event. All students are welcome to attend this event. This particular event intentionally centers the experiences, needs, and voices of Queer and Trans students. All UC-based Career Offices’ websites, resources, programs, and events comply with federal and state non-discrimination laws, reflect our institutional values, and are open to all members of the campus community. About your presenters: Dr. Maria Ramirez Loyola, Ph.D. (She/Her/Ella) | Aspiring Scholars Career Specialist | UC Merced Student Career Center. Dr. Maria Ramirez Loyola earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and her Ph.D. in Health Psychology from the University of California, Merced. Her research broadly focused on resiliency and the effects of stress on young adults’ mental and physical health. Dr. Ramirez Loyola brings over eight years of experience in higher education, using her training, skills, and lived experiences to empower UC scholars through inclusive programming and a strong sense of belonging. Cesar Valentin, Ed.M. | Career Counselor | UC Berkeley Career Engagement Cesar Valentin (they/them) earned a B.A. in Sociology and Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Education Leadership from Harvard, where they focused on mindfulness-based resilience and healing-centered practices for systems-impacted communities in higher education. With experience as a bilingual case manager and wellness coordinator, Cesar brings a trauma-informed, equity-driven approach to career development, helping students navigate systemic barriers and pursue meaningful, authentic career paths.
