Many internships and jobs are discovered through conversations and connections long before they ever appear in an online job posting.In this interactive career lab, we’ll cover the foundations of effective networking and help you develop the skills that support career exploration and professional opportunity. You will practice short networking scenarios to learn how to introduce yourself in a variety of social contexts, build rapport with professionals, and conduct informational conversations that can lead to insights, internships, and jobs. We will also discuss how to ethically use AI tools to research organizations and contacts, prepare thoughtful questions, and get ready for networking conversations and informational meetings in a way that is professional, informed, and authentic.

Get practical tips on effectively using Handshake to search for jobs and internships, setting up your profile, and making the most of Handshake.
  • Handshake Profile Lab
    Handshake Profile Lab There will be a quick 5 minute overview on our Building Your Handshake Profile Quick Tip handout at the beginning of the session, but otherwise this is an informal, open working session. Bring your laptop and drop in any time during the lab for hands-on help! A few Microsoft Surface tablets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for students who need a laptop.
