Employers and campus departments hold a variety of information sessions throughout the year for students to learn about job, internship, and program opportunities available to them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an Information Session?
An Information Session is when an employer or campus department schedules a time to visit UCI and share information about their organization and career/program opportunities with students and potential applicants.
  • When and where are Information Sessions?
Most sessions occur midday or in the early evening hours and are often held in the Career Pathways Training Room or Student Center. You can find dates and exact locations for future events on Handshake.
  • Why should I attend?
These are great opportunities to meet employer and program representatives and ask questions prior to applying or going in for an interview. They also provide a chance for you to ask questions about company culture, industry expectations, and how to prepare yourself for a career in the field.
  • Who attends Information Sessions?
Students that have or are planning to apply to a particular employer or for a particular program should attend to learn even more about these opportunities. Others may attend to explore career options and learn about various employers or even specific industries.
  • What should I expect?
Most sessions are between one and two hours long and may include an employer representative giving a formal presentation. Alternatively, it may be a more informal mixer or reception with light refreshments. In either case, expect to be observed by the employer or program director and present yourself professionally at all times.

As with a career fair, there will be many other students in attendance so be patient if you want to speak directly with a representative and be courteous to your fellow UCI Anteaters.

  • How should I prepare?
Many of the tips on how to prepare for a career fair are applicable to information sessions.

While it is not required, you may want to dress in business casual attire when attending employer info sessions, to make a good first impression. In addition, bring several copies of your resume to the session (be sure to have it reviewed first at the Division of Career Pathways).
